Agreed! Not to be insensitive but what is the cost of each death of COVID-19 vs other deaths we accept as normal? Cancer, heart attacks, dementia, pneumonia, aids, accidents, medical malpractice, etc.
Here are a few more thought and arguments I have written down over last month on this topic - not shared with anyone yet but you so far:
Who pays for the government handouts?
How do you tax people that are not working and businesses that are not open?
Why do you get to deny a person the ability to work?
Who made the list of who gets to stay open and who can’t?
Why can’t I make the list of essential and non-essential workers?
One thing being discovered is how many non-essential governments jobs there are.
Free markets are the ultimate decider if essential jobs. Supply and demand.
Why is going to a crowded supermarket to buy stuff deemed safer than going to a small specialty retail shop to buy the same stuff?
Why can I go to the hardware store to buy kitchen items but I can’t go to a kitchen specialty store to buy the same items?
Why can I sit outside the liquor store on the street but can’t sit inside a clean bar to drink?
Why are essential jobs safer than non-essential jobs?
Aren’t those working in essential jobs more at risk than non-essential workers stuck at home?
Show me the proof that eating in a restaurant is more dangerous than working in an office all day with coworkers and customers.
The basic reason for any job is to serve our fellow humans being with a need they have. Shall we now think that we should not serve our fellow human beings for their needs or ours?
If you really cared about the risk of dying, why did you get in a car?
Is living free of the risk of dying?
The first businesses our governor and politicians required to close were bars, restaurants, and wine tasting. From what perspective do they see life? It is probably safe to assume they are not working in these industries but frequent them?
My father in law died of the flu a couple of years ago. No one cared or closed the economy.
If you are not able to experience life, are you living?
What if the internet goes down? What are you going to do?
What is the power goes out? What are you going to do?
Why were real estate agents deemed unessential then were able to lobby to be added to the essential list?
Here is an exercise I would like you to do: rank all the jobs you can think of and rank them from most essential to most non-essential. Then call your fellow Americans at the bottom of the non-essential list and tell them why they are not needed. Then work your way up the list. Let me know how that goes.
Why would someone pay for a non-essential job? Wouldn’t it be essential for them if they are willing to pay someone to do it?
So your saying you hate certain people and that those people are not worthy of living. Those that clean toilets, make beds, bus tables, cook food, clean floors, servers of food, hairdressers, barbers, clothes washers, dry cleansers, wine tasting room workers, bartenders, shopkeepers, Hispanics, African Americans, Asians, Native Americans Americans, all ethnics minorities, all ethnic majorities, in the hospitality or non-essential businesses?
Why is a low density farm community treated the same as New York City? Are they the same?
In a small town with the same farmers going to the same diner early in the morning with the same workers and no one has COVID-19 anywhere within miles, why should this be banned?
Why are our hospitals nearly empty and losing money right now when they are usually full and making money in healthy times?
What aren’t the hospitals overwhelmed as the experts predicted?
If someone is diagnosed with COVID-19, the doctor recommends they stay home and recover. Why are we required to do this when we are healthy?
Should people have the free choice to attend a live musical concert with other people knowing all the risks?
Are we learning that public schools and universities are not essential?
Is the ultimate lesson of all this that we just need to practice better hygiene?
Both Franklin and Jefferson said roughly the same thing:
Jefferson: “He who gives his freedom for safety gets none of them.”
Franklin: “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
It is amazing that the earth is cleans itself in about two weeks without human activity. Hard to argue that man is more powerful than nature.
With social distancing now a requirement, how are law abiding citizens going to give birth?
If you wanted to weaken or defeat America, would you now shift from a military or an economic strategy to another way unfolding in front of your eyes? What might that be?
I think the enemies of America just discovered how to defeat us.
It appears we are now more scared of getting sick than going to war.
Will a treatment for COVID-19 be invented by American’s because of government mandate or by the profit they can make by satisfying the demand? Both win with profit as supplier and buyer satisfy their own needs.
Why does CaliforniaGov. Gavin Newsom’s COVID-19 State laws apply equally in the County of San Francisco as they do in Alpine County? Tell me the differences in the counties and why they should be treated the same? San Francisco County has 880,000 people in 47 square miles and Alpine County has 1120 people in 739 square miles.
Why does Gavin Newsom have his hair cut, nails done, and clothes dry cleaned, when I can’t get my own hair cut or clothes professionally cleaned.
Will you hold those accountable for requiring people to lose their jobs based on their faulty projections?
What makes me qualified in this subject? I may not be a medical doctor but I have a PHD degree in common sense from the school of Hard Knocks.
